According to legend, Tofu was invented during 164BC by Liu An - King of Huainan, the grandson of emperor Liu Bang during the Chinese Han Dynasty. Tofu was introduced to Japan and Korea during the Tang and Song Dynasties and later introduced in the early 19th century to Europe, Africa and North America. With growing cultural exchanges on healthy and vegetarian foods, Tofu popularity has been steadily growing.
Tofu is high in nutritional value because it is an excellent source of protein but also rich in calcium, magnesium and other minerals. It also contains 8 essential amino acids and is cholesterol-free. In the late 20th century, Tofu became widely used as an alternative to meat products. From the “traditional, natural, lively and healthy” image that Tofu portrays; these concepts have been brought into modern living in a fine way.
“Please, have a seat.” Is the initial reaction with the cool and comfortable Tofu stool. Taking a seat in the Tofu stool leads you to slip into an endless reverie. This was the inspiration for the Studio Domo brand founder Gary Lin which lead him to create the Tofu stool.
